what the fuck is this

Why do I like this so much

you might have autumned too hard

this is my kind of song, an atmospheric and tangible melancholy motif that slowly decays into chaos and comes back for a short time but not in the way it once was, bringing you out of the chaos, and making you consciously realize how far into insanity things have gone. You did an amazing job, and PAHC's level fits perfectly. I'll remember this for a long time. The melody of the motif is super memorable as well. It sounds very familiar, yet new, and captures a lot of emotion. I really like when people do stuff like that in ambient and progressive music. It really makes the song stand out, it's like giving it perspective and context. Something to bring you back and feel how deep you've gone.

...Thank you so much.

I'm at a loss for words. I really am. My limited skills with language fail me at describing the absolute stunning impact this and the level it goes with have on me, the writing in this level makes me realize that even more. Maybe it's something that's beyond words at any level. However, I will try my best to do it justice.

Sound design is undeniably a very very important part of creating an experience, and you nailed it SPOT ON. The way the sounds transition is seamless, and the story the sounds alone tell is already a masterpiece.

The level is very simple, and that is perfect for what it is. It's stripped down to only the essential, leaving no distractions from the story it's trying to tell. Every design and animation is wonderfully made and fills it's purpose perfectly. The custom text is clean and fits very well.

The way the parts flow together is amazing. There are subtle things, like everything stopping for a second when you notice the home owner is coming, and the way different ambient effects smoothly transition in and are perfectly timed to the sound effects and inputs. Every sound has some ambient visual equivalent that fits it perfectly.

The way you do inputs is really creative, and while I think they could be made a bit easier (it can be slightly annoying to re-do the whole level when you die near the end) I really like how they engage the player. I also don't know if this was intentional or not, but the only inputs that really stressed me out were when the home owner is coming. I don't know if they were faster or tighter there, or if it's just the stress of not wanting to die that far in, but it fits the tension of that part of the story perfectly. The way the story flows prepares you really well for the inputs as well. You can tell when you're going to have to do something soon or not, and that even enhances the story rather than distracting from it, since shifting attention is already such a fundamental part of story telling. I refuse to believe you didn't know what you were doing there.

The story is simple and sweet. It doesn't try to be more than it is, and instead focuses on being the best it can be at what little it is (in fact, this whole level is like that in every way). The story focuses on creating an experience through simple primal and perhaps spiritual pleasures. It really makes you feel like you're there, experiencing all that, and it really makes you think if you're living the life you want to be living (I don't know, that might just be me). You realize something playing this, and that is no amount of reaching for greatness or getting more things will make you happy. Happiness is a strange thing that only comes if you let it, usually at the simplist most unorthodox of times. We all go through this journey of life, and we're all in different stages. The important thing is to live in the moment. The mischievous young man and the old hermit have something in common, and that is the human experience. We're not all so different sometimes. We can share these beautiful things that make us human, and let our lives take us where they may. Many have lived through whatever stage of life you might be in, and many will to come.

Well I realize I've ranted a bit. Honestly I could write a small book, maybe a large one on everything this level does, everything it's made me think and feel, but that should do for now.

I want to thank you Jayuff. You may not read this, but I want to put it out here that I hope to learn to make things like this. To not loose sight of what makes us human and why that's beautiful. You've genuinely inspired me in these hard times, and I think many others can say the same.

Thank you for being you.

nervous breakdown the theme song

Onefin responds:

basically lol

Hell yeah so glad you uploaded this here! :) This version sounds a bit different from the one I'm used to though. Just wondering why that is. Maybe I'm just stupid, idk lol, amazing song either way.

this is

funny!!!

triplebarrel responds:

AWESOME

he laughed

It has some really good concepts but jeez it's way to loud and is clipping like crazy lmao

Edit: the clipping could maybe be used well, it's just WAY too strong here.

Vth responds:

I know it's loud, and the clipping is attentional. Thank you for the feedback though!!! It means a lot!

real hot, but you should amplify the sound file to the clipping point with audacity or something right before it clips to get max volume with the exact same quality lol. This is WAY further bellow the clipping line than it has to be.

I make stuff
